Professor Dr. Syed SaadAndaleeb is the Vice Chancellor of BRAC University. He is also a member of the BDREN (Bangladesh Research and Education Network) Board of Trustees under the University Grants Commission, Bangladesh. He also served as Member, Board of Trustees, American Institute of Bangladesh Studies and as President for two terms of Bangladesh Development Institute (USA). He continues to serve as Editor, Journal of Bangladesh Studies since 1999.
Before joining BRAC University, Professor Andaleeb was Distinguished Professor of Marketing at the Sam & Irene Black School of Business, Pennsylvania State University, Erie, USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BS in Chemical Engineering and MBA from the University of New Hampshire. He has published widely in peer-reviewed and practitioner journals and has presented invited papers at Oxford University, the Harvard School of Public Health and Cornell University’s South Asia Program. He also continues to pursue research, focusing presently on quality in higher education. Dr. Andaleeb advises faculty and institutions on research methodology. He was selected as a Senior Fulbright Scholar, twice selected as a Fulbright Senior Specialist, and served as a peer reviewer for the Fulbright Senior Specialist Program. He has consulted for The World Bank, UNFPA, ILO, FAO, IFAD and various corporate bodies in the United States and Bangladesh; he has also advised the Government of Bangladesh on various social development programs including health care and education and consulted widely for the private sector. He served in the expert panel for Transparency International, Bangladesh. He is the recipient of teaching, research and outreach awards at the Pennsylvania State University and has edited several books on socio-economic and political aspects of Bangladesh.
